Las Vegas ,NV : Driver dies after crashing car through home near downtown on Sunday night,July 5th 2015

A vehicle drove through a house near downtown Las Vegas, killing the 79-year-old driver late Sunday night.

Before coming to a stop at the foot of 12-year-old Karla Carmona’s bed, the vehicle, a 2007 Honda Civic, crashed through a cinder-block wall bordering the Olympic Garden strip club parking lot, near Las Vegas Boulevard South and East Oakey Boulevard, then the backyard of her home, and eventually her bedroom wall.

Carmona told the Review-Journal Monday morning that a man in the home at 1602 Rexford Place came running and crying, thinking the girl was dead when the crash happened just after 10 p.m.

She suffered only minor injuries and was transported to University Medical Center’s trauma unit, a release from Metro read.

Normally three people sleep in the bedroom that was impacted, Carmona said. At the time of the crash, however, she was sleeping in the room alone.

The 79-year-old driver died on the scene. He was identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Arthur Elton Marvin.

Police say the Honda was traveling east on Wyoming Avenue, approaching Las Vegas Boulevard, when it crossed the intersection and sidewalk and crashed into Carmona’s home, according to the release.

There is a possibility that the crash was caused by a medical episode, police say. They are not treating the crash as a traffic-related fatality until the Clark County coroner’s office determines Marvin’s cause and manner of death.
