A McHenry man died Friday morning after his car struck a tree in an unincorporated area near Wauconda, according to Lake County authorities.
Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Sgt. Chistopher Covelli said the crash occurred just before 11 a.m. on West Neville Road, when a westbound 2016 Lincoln “for an unknown reason” left the roadway on the south side of Neville and struck a tree.
Covelli said after the car struck the tree, it overturned and slid back into the middle of the roadway.
The 54-year-old driver was pronounced dead at the scene, Covelli said. The driver was the lone occupant of the car, and no other vehicles were involved.
An investigation by the Lake County Sheriff’s Office Technical Crash Investigations Team into the crash, which occurred just west of Darrell Road, was ongoing Friday afternoon, Covelli said.
