A husband and wife from Bauxite are dead following a single motorcycle accident on Interstate 40 near mile marker 79 in Pope County.
According to a report from the Arkansas State Police, Vicky Lilly, 57, and Michael C. Lilly, 58, were traveling westbound Friday around 7:45 a.m. on a Harley-Davidson motorcycle when suddenly Michael Lilly lost control of the vehicle.
The report says the bike turned on its left side before sliding onto the left shoulder of the interstate. Both occupants were thrown from the motorcycle.
Vicky Lilly was transported to an area hospital and died Sunday resulting from injuries sustained in the accident. Michael Lilly was also transported to an area hospital. He died Monday from his injuries.
This was the 220th fatal accident reported by ASP on Arkansas roadways this year and the 242nd and 245th death.
Weather conditions were clear and the roadway was dry, according to the report.
The Lillys were preceded in death by their parents, Virginia James, Marion Kimsey and Roy and Dilly Lilly; and a granddaughter, Sabra Davidson.
They are survived by five children, Scotty Garner, Angel Nichols, Jerry Johnson, Andie Hathcote and husband, Mark, and Sophye Lilly; eight grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Scotty Jr., Silas, Henry, Hoyt, Sawyer and Collyn; one great-grandchild on the
way, Carl Garner; and a number of family members and friends.
A celebration of life for the Lillys will be held at 1 p.m. July 2 at Dial and Dudley Funeral Home in Bryant. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
