Rapid City, S.D : Four people critically injured in a one-vehicle crash west of New Underwood on Monday, October 31, 2016

Four people were hurt, one critically, in a one-vehicle crash interstate crash west of New Underwood on Monday, according to authorities.

Douglas Wilson, 22, of Rapid City suffered life-threatening injuries and was airlifted to Rapid City Regional Hospital after the crash, according to Tony Mangan, public information officer with the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.

Wilson was eastbound on Interstate 90 around 7:30 a.m. Monday, near Mile Marker 74, about four miles west of New Underwood, when the 2006 Saturn Vue he was driving entered the grassy median. Mangan said that Wilson overcorrected and the Saturn went across both eastbound lanes of traffic, entered the ditch and rolled.

Wilson was not wearing a seat belt, according to Mangan.

There were three passengers in the vehicle: An unidentified 17-year-old male, of Rapid City; 21-year-old Winnona Long, of Nemo; and 23-year-old Evan Sanchez, also of Nemo.

The 17-year-old suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries in the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt, according to Mangan. Sanchez, who Mangan said was wearing a seat belt, also suffered serious, non-life-threatening injuries.

Long suffered minor injuries. She was not wearing a seat belt, according to Mangan.

The three passengers were taken to Rapid City Regional Hospital. The Highway Patrol is investigating the wreck.
