Oneonta, NY : Norwich teen dies in two-vehicle collision on Tuesday, December 20th 2016

An 18-year-old college student from Norwich died in a collision between a vehicle and tractor-trailer in the town of Geneseo on Tuesday, according to Livingston County deputies.

The driver of the passenger vehicle was identified as Savannah Williams, 18, deputies said. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene by Livingston County medical director Dr. Aaron Farney.

Williams was a student at the State University College at Geneseo, deputies said, and media sources reported that she was a freshman on the basketball team.

Williams was driving a car at about 2:35 p.m. Tuesday when she pulled into the path of tractor-trailer at an intersection on Route 63 near the SUNY Geneseo campus.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Robert Wilkinson, 24, of Niagara Falls, was not injured but was badly shaken by the collision, deputies said in a report posted on the Livingston County Sheriff's Office Facebook.

The cause of the crash under investigation, deputies said, and no charges have been filed.

Multiple personnel were involved in the response, and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office based in Norwich, assisted.
