Monett, MO : An Exeter teenager has died following a dirt bike wreck on Sunday, July 2, 2017
An Exeter teenager has died following a dirt bike wreck at 12:30 p.m. Sunday on Layton Hollow Road, four miles south of Rocky Comfort.
According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Dalton Horn, 18, of Exeter, was riding a 2004 Yamaha WR250 when his bike collided with a 1996 Yamaha YZ250 H1, being ridden by Alex Brannum, 29, of Russellville, Ala., ejecting both drivers. The direction of the dirt bikes was unknown.
Both victims were airlifted to Freeman West Hospital in Joplin. Horn was pronounced dead at 2:09 p.m. at the hospital by Dr. Alan Buchele. Brannum was pronounced dead at 4:23 p.m., also by Dr. Buchele.
Neither of the drivers were wearing safety devices, and both dirt bikes sustained moderate damage.
This is the 49th and 50th fatalities for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
