Kearney, NE : Wisconsin man died after a car crash on Interstate 80 in south-central Nebraska on Wednesday, March 30, 2016

A Wisconsin man has died from his injuries in a one-vehicle rollover crash east of Gibbon on Interstate 80 last week.
At about 2:25 p.m. Wednesday, Matthew Schmidt, 25, of Green Bay, Wis., was driving a 2015 Volkswagen Golf east on I-80 three miles east of the Gibbon interchange. The vehicle left the road, went into the south ditch and hit a tree, a Nebraska State Patrol dispatcher said. Schmidt was the lone occupant of his vehicle, and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
He was transported to CHI Health Good Samaritan where he was initially listed in critical condition. The State Patrol was informed April 3 that Schmidt had died.
An obituary for Schmidt will appear in Tuesday’s print edition.
