Two drivers had to be airlifted to the hospital after their vehicles collided, head-on, in Caldwell County Wednesday morning. Two children, who were also involved in the crash, are reportedly okay.
According to investigators, the crash happened along the 2700-block of Ellerwood Road in Hudson around 9:38 a.m., shutting the road down for a time.
Investigators believe 59-year-old Fredrick Robert Motley, of Lenoir, crossed the center line and collided with a truck driven by 30-year Emily Danielle Davis, of Lenoir. Davis also had a 7-year-old girl and a 1-year-old boy in the truck with her.
Both drivers were pinned in the vehicles for about an hour and a half. When they were freed by emergency crews, both were taken to awaiting helicopters and airlifted to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
Both children in the truck were transported to Caldwell UNC Health Care by ambulance and are expected to be okay.
