Austell, GA : Cobb police investigating fatal crash on the side of Riverside Parkway in Austell near Factory Shoals Road on Wednesday, 19th February, 2020

A person is dead after a truck crashed into trees on the side of Riverside Parkway in Austell near Factory Shoals Road on Wednesday.

Cobb County police spent at least four hours at the scene of the wreck, issuing a series of traffic advisories throughout the afternoon until just before 5 p.m., when the police department announced the scene had been cleared and the roadway reopened.

Until then, motorists were urged to use alternate routes.

The Cobb police department first tweeted about the crash around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday, saying a vehicle had overturned on Riverside Parkway, affecting traffic in the area.
