Cape Coral, FL : Motorcyclist seriously injured in crash on Del Prado David Chandler of Cape Coral was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital on Thursday, 16th January, 2020 18 mins ago

Cape Coral police say a motorcyclist suffered serious injuries when he reacted to avoid another driver as she turned in front of him Thursday night.

Police report that David K. Chandler, 60, of Cape Coral, was riding his 2003 Harley Davidson Sportster north on Del Prado Boulevard just before 9 p.m. when Amanda L Gabor, 19, of Cape Coral, made a U-turn on Del Prado near Savona Parkway.Chandler braked, locking up the front tire for 18 feet and laying the motorcycle down on its left side, the report stated. He was ejected from the motorcycle and it continued to slide for nearly 250 feet.

Chandler began walking around, but began going in and out of consciousness because of a head injury and was trauma alerted to Lee Memorial Hospital, the report indicated. Once at the hospital, the injuries were downgraded to serious but non-life-threatening.

Police are attempting to determine if Gabor violated Chandler's right of way, or if Chandler misjudged the distance and overreacted, they said.
