Pensacola, FL : Woman injured in collision with ECSO deputy in Escambia County on Sunday evening, July 17, 2016
A 24-year-old Bonifay woman is in serious condition after the vehicle she was driving collided with an Escambia County Sheriff's Office deputy's Tahoe on Sunday evening.
According to a press release from the Florida Highway Patrol, around 9 p.m. Sunday a Ford Taurus driven by Jasmine Dodds was traveling north in the left turn lane of Pine Forest Road approaching the intersection of Blue Angel Parkway.
An Escambia County Sheriff's Office Tahoe driven by Deputy M. Keebler — who was responding to a call — was traveling south on the inside lane of Pine Forest Road approaching the intersection of Blue Angel Parkway, the report stated. The traffic signal turned yellow for north and southbound traffic on Pine Forest Road, and the deputy entered the intersection.
Dodds also entered the intersection making a left turn in front of the path of Keebler. The front portion of Dodds' Taurus collided with the front portion of Keebler's Tahoe, the report stated. The impact caused the Ford Taurus to rotate counter clockwise coming to rest on the northbound left turn lane of Pine Forest Road facing north. The patrol car came to rest on the southbound shoulder of Pine Forest Road, south of the intersection facing south.
A passenger in Dodds' car, Martin B. Vickers, 24, of Pensacola and Keebler received minor injuries in the collision.
Dodds was cited for improper left turn in front of approaching traffic.
Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the wreck.
