ROTTERDAM, NY : A motorcyclist fled from a traffic stop in Glenville on Friday, September 8, 2017
A motorcyclist fled from a traffic stop in Glenville Friday morning and then crashed on Interstate 890 in Rotterdam, police said.
Both the motorcyclist and a passenger were taken to Albany Medical Center with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened just before 10 a.m. after the motorcyclist, identified as Noah Robinson, 38, of Schenectady, spotted a Glenville patrol car and began to flee, police said.
The officer turned on his emergency lights to stop the motorcycle, but the rider kept going into Rotterdam and crashed a short time later on the on-ramp to Interstate 890 near Exit 4B, just west of Schenectady County Community College. The location of the start of the incident, as well as what led the officer to initially attempt to stop Robinson, were not available Friday evening.Robinson suffered several broken bones in the crash. His passenger, identified as Dionne Ingoldsby, 32, suffered several injuries, including a severe cut to her leg, police said.
Police filed several vehicle and traffic counts against the driver. The investigation is continuing and further charges are expected, police said.
The crash closed the on-ramp for about four hours as police investigated. The closure blocked access to I-890 west from both Erie Boulevard and Washington Avenue near the college.
Glenville police were assisted by Rotterdam police and state police.
