Lawrence, NJ : Three people in critical condition after a car crash on Route 1 and Darrah Lane on Saturday morning, April 16, 2016

A car crash on Route 1 Saturday morning sent three people to the hospital – one in critical condition.

The crash occurred around 7:45 a.m. Saturday near the intersection of Route 1 and Darrah Lane, according to police.

Restituta Adriani, a 74-year-old Lawrence woman was driving on Darrah Lane when she reached an intersection with Route 1. She disregarded the light and drove into the intersection in an attempt to cross the road, police said.

Adriani collided with two other cars, sending three people to the hospital. Adriani was uninjured in the crash.

Two of the people had minor injuries and were treated and released Saturday morning but a third person, who was a passenger in one of the cars Adriani hit, was seriously injured. That person remained in critical condition at the hospital Saturday afternoon.

Police charged Adriani with assault by auto, reckless driving and failure to obey a signal. Police do not believe she was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time of the crash.
