Jamestown, IN : Two motorists injured in crash at Ind 49 and 950N on Wednesday, April 6, 2016
Two motorists sustained incapacitating injuries on Wednesday after colliding in the intersection of Ind. 49 and C.R. 950N, Chesterton Police said.
According to police, at 10:25 a.m. Hannah M. Vasquez, 19, of Liberty Township, was eastbound on C.R. 950N and stopped at the stop sign for Ind. 49 when she attempted to cross the intersection, after waiting for traffic to clear. On entering the intersection, Vasquez was struck on the front driver’s side by a second vehicle southbound in the left lane of Ind. 49.
The driver of the second vehicle was David P. Sexton, 74, of South Bend.
Vasquez advised police that she didn’t see Sexton.
Both drivers sustained chest injuries--described by the CPD as “incapacitating”--and were transported to hospital, police said. Both were also wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
Police estimated total damage to Vasquez’s 2012 Nissan Versa and Sexton’s 2000 Honda Accord at up to $25,000.
