Hutchinson, KS : A pair of Garden City residents were injured in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday, July 4, 2017

A pair of Garden City residents were injured Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle accident just north of the town.

According to the Kansas Highway patrol, 15-year-old Maria Elena Melecio was behind the wheel of a Dodge Durango that was stopped at stop sign on Third Street and pulled out onto U.S. 50 in front of a Ford truck driven by Eduardo Pineda-Castillo, 34. The crash occurred at about 10:40 a.m.

The Durango was struck on the passenger side, injuring 11-year-old Irma Melecio, who along with Pineda-Castillo was taken to St. Catherine Hospital. Their conditions were unavailable Tuesday evening.
