Troopers said at least one person is dead after a crash in Greenville County on Friday.
They got the call around 6:34 p.m. Troopers said the incident happened at Godfrey Road and Batesville Road in Simposnville.
The roadway was reportedly blocked due to the crash.
The coroner later identified the deceased as 38-year-old Robert Elton Purnell from Jacksonville, FL. He succumbed to his injuries at the scene, and his cause of death was listed as multi-body trauma. His manner of death was listed as an accident.
According to Coroner Parks Evans, the victim was wearing a helmet and riding on a red moped along Batesville Road when he struck a dark grey Chevrolet SUV attempting to cross over Batesville Road.
The driver of the SUV was wearing a seat belt and was not injured.
EMS, Pelham-Batesville Fire Department, SC Highway Patrol and the Coroner's Office all responded to the scene.
Charges are pending in the incident.
