Wauseon, OH : Delta woman killed following a two-vehicle crash in Fulton County on Thursday morning, July 7, 2016
A Delta woman was killed Thursday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Fulton County.
According to the Toledo post of the Ohio Highway Patrol the crash occurred at Fulton County Roads 13 and F in York Township just after 10 a.m. when a northbound Toyota Prius driven by Carol Knapp, 72, Liberty Center, failed to stop for a stop sign and struck a westbound Buick LeSabre driven by Helen Spiess, 89, Delta. Both vehicles came to rest on the northwest corner of the intersection. Knapp's vehicle also struck a traffic sign and utility pole.
Spiess was trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by first responders. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Knapp was transported by Delta EMS to Fulton County Health Center, Wauseon, with non-life threatening injuries.
Troopers report that both drivers were wearing safety belts at the time the crash.
Assisting at the scene were the Wauseon Police Department, Wauseon Fire Department, Wauseon EMS and the Fulton County Sheriff's Office.
The crash remains under investigation.
