Burlington, VT : Police cruiser crashes into light pole on Monday, January 5, 2015
A Burlington police officer was hospitalized after the patrol car she was driving struck another motorist, and then a pole.
Officer Bailey Emilo was responding to an emergency call with lights and sirens activated, according to police, when she struck another motorist at the intersection of College and Battery Streets around 3:45 p.m.
After hitting the car, operated by 64 year-old Govinda Serchan of South Burlington, the patrol car then hit a light pole.
The police car sustained extensive damage. Officer Emilo was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center with minor injuries. She has since been released.
Serchan did not suffer injuries, but her car was damaged in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
