Yampa, CO : Driver cited, motorcyclist hospitalized following crash in Craig on Monday, 9th September 2019

Police in Craig issued an elderly woman a citation Monday after a motorcyclist suffered serious injury in a wreck on Yampa Avenue.

First responders were dispatched to a collision between a black 2018 Harley Davidson motorcycle and a green 1997 Chevrolet Blazer about 4 p.m. Monday to find one man lying on the sidewalk on Yampa Avenue, directly in front of Tunies and Such Nursery and Landscaping.

Craig/Fire Rescue and EMS personnel could be seen tending to the man, who was bleeding from an apparent head injury and could be heard pleading with first responders to help him.In an email to the Craig Press Tuesday, Thom and Lisa Fisher said they assisted Craig resident Ken Wergin and another woman in tending to the rider moments after the crash. Wergin, a retired emergency respiratory therapist, is said to have helped keep the severely injured man stable using several child’s diapers from a nearby vehicle to stop the man’s head injury from bleeding until EMS arrived.
