Motorcyclist who died in Newark identified as Brooklyn man

The motorcyclist who lost control of his vehicle and died in a crash on the New Jersey Turnpike outside Newark on Sunday has been identified as a Brooklyn man, police said.Hector Tejeda, 24, was driving along the highway's northbound lanes but lost control of his vehicle while traveling on a ramp towards Route 78 East around 6 p.m., according to Sgt. Adam Grossman, an New Jersey State Police spokesman.The 24-year-old struck a cement barrier, and the force of the collision launched his body off of the ramp and into a concrete bridge support below the extension, Grossman said.He died at the scene a short time later. No other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one else was hurt, Grossman said.Grossman did not say if speed was a factor in the crash, citing the ongoing investigation. Attempts to reach Tejeda's family were unsuccessful.
