Blenheim,SC : Georgia mom, 4-year-old daughter die in Christmas crash in Marlboro County on December, Tuesday 26th 2017
A driver and a child were killed in a one-vehicle crash Christmas evening in Marlboro County.
According to Cpl. Sonny Collins with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, a 1998 Ford SUV was traveling south on Hwy. 38 near Gray Road around 4:25 p.m., when the SUV ran off the left side of the road into the median, lost control and then ran off the right side of the road where the SUV flipped several times.
Troopers say there were six people in the car when it crashed. The two victims killed in the crash were Tyesha Terry, 27, and her 4-year-old daughter Mackenzie Terry, according to Marlboro County Coroner Tim Brown. Two other children were in the car at the time – Mackenzie’s 4-year-old twin sister, who is reported to be fine, and a 2-year-old boy who was taken to McLeod for treatment, Brown adds.
The coroner adds that the family is from Georgia.
Cpl. Collins says no one was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. South Carolina Highway Patrol continues to investigate the wreck.
