Gardena ,CA : Two people die in crash after police pursuit on Sunday ,August 30th 2015

The two men were killed instantly. The driver of the gray Chevrolet Suburban, the lone occupant in the vehicle, suffered minor to moderate injuries, said Officer Edgar Figueroa of the California Highway Patrol.

A large number of people were spotted by CHP officers at the sideshow -- a gathering of speed enthusiasts performing stunts on Redondo Beach Boulevard at Main Street. That is a mostly industrial neighborhood in an section of unincorporated Los Angeles County surrounded by Carson, Gardena, Compton and the Harbor Gateway panhandle of Los Angeles, Figueroa said.

“Officers observed in the middle of that intersection an orange Scion doing ‘donuts’ until officers activated their emergency lights and sirens and tried to conduct a traffic stop,” he said.

“Spectators were observing and several hundred cars were out there,” he said. “It was like a sideshow. Actually, it’s something that is frequent in that area.”

The Scion sped north on Compton Boulevard at a high rate of speed. Minutes later, at the intersection of Broadway and Redondo Beach Boulevard, the car ran a red light and hit the Suburban, which was going west on Redondo Beach Boulevard
