ANDERSON, SC : Coroner identifies man dead after collision in Anderson, says alcohol involved on Saturday, 5th November 2016
Only one lane was open on Interstate 85 North Bound due to a fatal collision Saturday morning, troopers report.
A two vehicle collision caused delays on I-85 at Mile Marker 37 shortly after the incident occurred at 6:30 a.m.
The coroner identified the fatality victim as 23-year-old Joshua Daniel Baxter. According to the coroner, alcohol, speeding and drug use were contributors to the accident.
According to troopers, Baxter's vehicle and another vehicle were traveling North when Baxter's vehicle rear ended the other. Baxter was ejected and the car overturned.
Baxter was driving a 1994 Ford SUV, there was one passenger in the vehicle. No word yet on the passenger's injuries.
Baxter was partially ejected from the vehicle, he died of blunt force trauma on scene, the coroner said.
This crash is under investigation by highway patrol.
