An early Saturday morning crash in Arapahoe County has claimed the lives of both the driver and passenger, and marijuana is suspected as a contributing factor, a Colorado State Patrol spokesman told 7NEWS.
The deadly, single-vehicle rollover crash happened just before 3 a.m., closing eastbound Hampden at Picadilly as well as northbound Gun Club Road.
A 20-year-old man died at the scene of the crash, according to Colorado State Patrol spokesman Tim Sutherland.
The passenger in the 2006 Toyota Camry, a 22-year-old woman, was airlifted to a hospital with serious injuries and was listed in critical condition, but 7NEWS later confirmed with Sutherland that she has also died as a result of her injuries.
Sutherland said neither the man nor the woman were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash. He also said marijuana is being investigated as a contributing factor in this crash after officials found marijuana all over the car.
The scene of the crash was cleared and all roads were back open by 9:20 a.m.
