Cape Coral, FL : Motorcyclist injured after a serious crash in Cape Coral on Tuesday night, April 12, 2016
A serious injury crash in Cape Coral Tuesday night sent a motorcyclist to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
At around 8:28 p.m. Cape Coral Police were called to the intersection of Chiquita Boulevard and Gleason Parkway for a crash involving a vehicle and motorcycle.
According to witnesses the motorcycle, driven by Jerry Leon Freeman, 72, of Cape Coral, was traveling north on Chiquita and had the green light. The other vehicle, a black 2016 Jeep SUV driven by Claudia A. Szecsei, 35, of Cape Coral, did not see the motorcycle and turned from Chiquita South to go east on Gleason, directly in the path of the motorcycle.
Freeman hit the vehicle head-on and came down on his head on the roadway.
Freeman suffered life-threatening head injuries, was trauma-alerted to a nearby hospital and was in critical condition after surgery. Szecsei and a passenger, Anna Szecsei-Sipos, 62, of Cape Coral, were uninjured.
