Kalispell, MT : 22-year-old woman killed in a weather-related crash near Columbia Falls on Thursday, March 17, 2016
A 22-year-old woman died after a crash in Flathead County at about 7:30 a.m Thursday. The Montana Highway Patrol trooper on scene said weather was a factor in the crash.
Officials later identified her as Stevie Anne Sorensen, of Columbia Falls.
Trooper Laramie Stefani said Sorensen was driving north in a sedan on Highway 206, east of Columbia Falls, when the vehicle went off the right side of the road. The woman over-corrected and crossed into oncoming traffic. A pickup truck driving south crashed into the passenger side of her car.
Stefani said Sorensen was trapped in her car when he arrived. Fire crews responded and extracted her. She was pronounced dead upon arrival to Kalispell Regional Medical Center.
Two people were in the pickup truck. Stefani said they suffered minor injuries, some broken ribs and some bruises. He said everyone involved was wearing a seat belt.
