Roggen, CO : Wiggins woman dies in rollover crash in southeastern Weld County on Saturday morning, July 2, 2016

A 46-year-old Wiggins woman died Saturday morning in a traffic crash in southeastern Weld County.

Police were called about 9:30 a.m. to the intersection of Weld County roads 20 and 93, which is about 10 miles southeast of Roggen, near the Morgan County line. Weld County Coroner Mark Ward said in an email investigators don’t yet know the time of the crash. However, it occurred when Shannon Dalton, 46, of Wiggins lost control of her maroon 1998 Dodge pickup truck.

The truck went off the gravel road and rolled over. Dalton was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:59 p.m., Ward said.

Colorado State Patrol spokeswoman Trooper Alisha Danko said the investigation into the cause of the crash is in its early stages. However, she said investigators believe alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the cause of the crash.

Dalton is the 24th person to die so far this year on Weld County roads. Through this date last year, 33 people had died.
