CHELAN, WA : Deadly crash kills one person after car plunges into the Columbia River on Sunday, 14th April 2024

One person was killed in a crash on State Highway 97 Sunday night.

Washington State Patrol says it happened just after 9 p.m.

The driver was heading south on the highway when the person overcorrected, causing them to drive over railroad tracks, then an embankment.

The car eventually landed in the Columbia River.

WSP says it's unclear at this point if drugs or alcohol were involved.

The name of the person killed hasn't been released by police yet.
