San Tan Valley, AZ : 72-year-old Florence man hurt in motorcycle accident on Hunt Highway on Monday morning, August 15, 2016
A 72-year-old Florence man was seriously injured Monday morning when the motorcycle he was riding collided with another vehicle that made a left-hand turn in front of him, authorities said.
The accident occurred at 8:30 a.m. on Hunt Highway in front of the Fry”s grocery store, just south of Bella Vista Drive.
A northbound motorcycle, driven by the 72-year-old Florence man, was struck by a southbound, left-turning Ford SUV, according to the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.
“Looks like one of the two northbound lanes stopped to let the Ford SUV make the left turn into the Fry’s parking lot, but the motorcyclist in the other lane did not stop,” said PCSO spokesman Mark Clark. “Citation will be issued to the driver of the Ford SUV for failing to yield while making a left turn.”
The man suffered a leg injury and collapsed lung, and is expected to survive. Clark said he was wearing a helmet, but it came off in the collision.
