Auburn, ME : 1 killed, 22 injured in accident at Pumpkin Land in Mechanic Falls on Friday, October 17, 2014

Maine State Police completed its vehicle autopsy on the Jeep involved in Saturday's hayride accident at Pumpkin Land, in Mechanic Falls. A team of troopers, motor vehicle inspectors and fire marshal investigators conducted the inspection of the 1979 CJ5 at a garage in Auburn. Investigators have said they believe a mechanical problem with the Jeep caused the accident. The results of the autopsy were not released but will be included in the final report, which will be forwarded to the District Attorney's Office for review. Police said interviews continue, and there is no timetable on when the investigation will be complete. Cassidy Charette, 17, of Oakland, was killed in the accident. Twenty-two other people were injured. Officials said Friday that everyone injured in the accident has been released from the hospitals.
