Driver charged after crash in Keyser West Virginia
A Keyser man who was cited for driving his pickup truck too fast for road conditions was also charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance Tuesday night, according to the Mineral County Sheriff's Department.
Earl Eugene Cleveland, 57, was driving a 1998 GMC Sonoma west on state Route 46 near the Keyser Industrial Park when he lost control of the truck on the wet roadway. The pickup crossed the center of the road and ran off the opposite side before it spun around, police said.
Tiffany Buehler, 28, Front Royal, Va., was extricated from the cab of the truck. The driver was able to get out on his own.
Earl Allen Cleveland, 24, Keyser, and Klarissa Shoemaker, 20, Romney, were ejected from the bed of the truck, according to police.
According to the Mineral County 911 Center, helicopters requested by emergency personnel were unable to respond to the 10:32 p.m. crash due to bad weather. The three patients who were taken to the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center by ambulance were treated and released, police said.
Ambulances from Fountain and New Creek volunteer fire departments, Keyser EMS and Valley Medical were on the scene, according to the 911 center. Volunteers from Fountain, New Creek and Keyser fire departments responded.
