GRAINFIELD, KS : Colorado man killed in head-on collision near Grainfield on Friday, March 17th 2017
A Colorado man was killed Friday when he drove his vehicle the wrong way on I-70 and struck a semi head-on about a mile east of Grainfield in Gove County.
According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, a Kia Sportage driven by Karl Dennis Grose, 63, of Crestone, Colo., was westbound on I-70 in the eastbound lane for an unknown reason at about 9:20 p.m. Friday when his vehicle struck a semi head-on driven by David William Farris, 49, of Midvale, Utah. Grose was ejected from his vehicle, which ended up in the median and caught fire, the report said.
Grose was pronounced dead at the scene, the report said. Farris was taken to Gove County Medical Center in Quinter with a possible injury. A passenger in the semi, Landon Grant Moulton, 33, of Kearns, Utah, was uninjured.
Farris and Moulton were wearing seat belts, but it is not known if Grose was buckled, the report said.
