Beatrice,NE : Citation issued after crash on August, Wednesday 23th 2017
A woman was cited after a crash last week near Beatrice.
Gage County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to Beatrice Community Hospital on Wednesday, Aug. 23 at approximately 1:15 p.m. to interview a patient in the emergency room who may have been involved in a motor vehicle accident earlier in the day.
The deputy responded to the hospital and interviewed the patient, the nurses and another person associated with the vehicle.
According to a press release from the department, the investigation revealed that Alicia Miller, 46, who lives west of Beatrice, had worked a long overnight shift in Fairbury and was returning home.
When Miller made a right turn to go south on Southwest 75th Road from West Juniper Road, she lost control of her vehicle, a red 1995 Chevrolet pickup, on the gravel road.
She allegedly continued accelerating while swerving back and forth, trying to correct the loss of control, and ran off the roadway on the west side. She then struck the dirt embankment in the ditch.
There was damage to the front bumper area of her vehicle, estimated at about $800.
The deputy cited Miller for operating a motor vehicle without a license and no proof of insurance.
Neither alcohol nor speed were believed to be factors in the accident. Miller stated she was tired from working an overnight shift the night before.
An investigator and a deputy drove to Southwest 75th and West Juniper roads and confirmed that was the location of the accident based on evidence found at the scene.
