Galveston, TX : Port Bolivar man, 59, dead after single-car crash in Galveston on Thursday morning, May 12, 2016
A 59-year-old Port Bolivar man is dead after a single-car crash Thursday morning in Galveston, officials said.
The man was driving east in the 6000 block of Heards Lane, when he veered off the road and struck a small palm tree and light pole about 11 a.m., said John “D.J.” Florence, chief investigator for the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The man did not have a pulse and showed no signs of trauma when police officers responded to the scene, Florence said. First responders took the man to John Sealy Hospital, where he was pronounced dead about 45 minutes later, Florence said.
It’s possible the man had a stroke or heart attack while driving because there were no obvious signs of trauma, Florence said.
The medical examiner’s office plans to perform and autopsy Friday, Florence said. Authorities will not release his name until family members are notified of the death, Florence said.
