A section of Interstate 75 in downtown Detroit has reopened nearly a week after a tanker truck exploded and caught fire.
The state Transportation department says traffic was allowed Saturday morning back on the northbound I-75 ramp at I-375. Damaged concrete has been replaced.
The 36-year-old driver of tanker was cited for careless driving. The truck was carrying 9,000 gallons of unleaded fuel when it exploded Sunday morning. The truck driver was not hurt.
State police have said the driver told investigators mechanical problems caused his vehicle's back tires to lock and the tanker to overturn.\
