Escambia County, AL : Barbara Emmons Harrison, 65, died and one injured in a crash on Alabama 21 in Escambia County on Tuesday morning, Aug 18, 2015

An Atmore woman died Tuesday morning in a crash that injured one other woman, Alabama State Troopers said.

Barbara Emmons Harrison, 65, died at Atmore Community Hospital after suffering injuries in a crash on Alabama 21, said Trooper Jamie Maloy. The accident happened just before 11 a.m. roughly four miles north of Atmore.

Harrison was a passenger in a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu when the car was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Impala, Maloy said.

Medics transported Harrison and the Malibu's driver, identified as 70-year-old Velma Joyce Evans, to Atmore Community Hospital for treatment. Authorities did not say how severe Evans' injuries were.

The driver of the Impala was not injured, Maloy said.

Troopers continued to investigate the accident Tuesday afternoon.
