CAMPTON HILLS, IL : 2 injured in Campton Hills crash at Burlington and Dittman roads on Friday, 12th July 2019
A 35-year-old man was flown to a hospital with serious injuries following a traffic crash Friday afternoon at Burlington and Dittman roads in Campton Hills, police said.
Campton Hills Officer James Levand said the crash occurred at 2:23 p.m. at a T-intersection “notorious for accidents.”
Burlington Road does not have a stop sign, signal or left turn lane while Dittman Road does have a stop sign, he said.
The crash occurred when the man, who was driving an Acura TX, crashed into the rear of a Toyota 4Runner that was stopped in the southbound lane on Burlington Road to make a left turn onto Dittman Road, Levand said.
“He failed to stop,” Levand said. “He was doing about 65 miles an hour. He rear-ended the 4Runner, pushed it off the road onto the front lawn of a residence. The Acura came to rest 500 feet after the initial impact and in the wrong lane of traffic.”
Elburn paramedics transported the 66-year-old woman who was driving the Toyota to Northwestern Medicine Delnor Hospital in Geneva with minor injuries, Levand said.
