Richmond,VI : A bicyclist was killed on April, saturday 29th 2017

A bicyclist was killed Friday night after being struck by a vehicle near McGuire Veterans Affairs Medical Center in South Richmond, authorities said.

John H. Shelton Jr., 69, of the 3500 block of Broad Rock Road, was unresponsive when Richmond Police Department officers arrived on the scene of the collision, according to a news release issued Saturday.The incident unfolded about 10:40 p.m. on Hopkins Road near Veterans Avenue, according to Richmond police Capt. Greer Gould.

Shelton was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics, according to the news release. The driver of the Oldsmobile sedan that hit him was interviewed by police officers but is not likely to face charges.
