Beaumont,TX : One dead after auto-pedestrian crash in Port Arthur on December, Friday 1st 2017

One man died in a auto pedestrian accident in Port Arthur, city spokesperson LaRisa Carpenter said in a release.

On Dec. 1 at about 6:12 p.m., Port Arthur Police Officers were flagged down in reference to an auto-pedestrian accident that occurred in the 4400 block of Gulfway Drive. Officers called for EMS after finding the victim had serious injuries.

The victim, Daniel Jones, 53, was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

Investigators determined the victim was walking across Gulfway Drive when the driver of the vehicle did not see the pedestrian due to the dim light and the pedestrian’s dark clothing.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

This incident is currently under investigation by the of the PAPD's Criminal Investigation Division.
