Four people were taken to the hospital following a two-car crash at the intersection of Hodges Cross Road and Curran Memorial Highway (Route 8) on Thursday afternoon.
Shortly before 3 p.m., a Ford Focus hatchback, with New York license plates traveling northbound on Route 8 near Walmart, collided with a Chrysler 200 sedan that was turning from Hodges Cross Road, according to police.
"It looks as if one of the cars did not stop for a red light," North Adams Police Sgt. Jason Wood said.
One of the Ford's three occupants was taken to Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield for injuries. Two other passengers and the Chrysler's single occupant were taken to BMC Northern Berkshire Campus in North Adams, according to police.
Identities of both vehicles' occupants, along with extent of their injuries, were not available.
The Ford suffered extensive front-end damage and was leaking fluid; the Chrysler had damage to the driver's side. Airbags deployed in both vehicles, which were towed from the scene.
The crash remains under investigation and no charges are currently pending.
North Adams police, fire and ambulance, as well as Adams police and ambulance, and the Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene.
