Two people were killed in a single-vehicle rollover crash early Sunday, closing all southbound lanes on I-57 on the Far South Side, fire officials said.
A car struck a pole and the concrete barrier about 2:45 a.m. and rolled over in the southbound lanes of I-57 near 99th Street, according to Illinois State Police.
Two people were killed in the crash, according to Fire Cmdr. Walter Schroeder. Additional information was not immediately available and the Cook County medical examiner’s office did not confirm the fatality.
No other injuries were reported, fire officials said.
As of 6:45 a.m., all lanes were closed to traffic in the area, but were expected to reopen by 8 a.m., police said.
