Newark, DE : 64-year-old Robert Whitlock killed when car hits tree in Delaware on Friday, February 6, 2015

New Castle County Police say a Maryland man was killed when the car he was driving ran off the road and hit a tree.

It happened about 12:25 p.m. Friday on Frenchtown Road in Newark. Officers say 64-year-old Robert Whitlock of North East, Maryland, was driving his SUV when it ran off the road and hit a large tree.

Whitlock was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
