Gray Court, SC : Laurens man died after losing control, crashing truck on Tuesday afternoon, December 13, 2016

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a crash that claimed a man's life on Tuesday afternoon.
Troopers said a 51-year-old man was traveling on Old Laurens Road around 12:45 p.m. when he lost control of his Chevrolet pickup and ran off the right side of the road.
The driver then crossed back over of the roadway, ran off the left side of the road and struck a tree, troopers said.
The coroner identified the driver as Bennie Earl Thompson of Laurens. His cause of death was blunt force trauma.
Thompson was reportedly not wearing a seat belt and was entrapped in the vehicle. He succumbed to his injuries after being mechanically extracted from the truck, troopers said.
