Newton,NH : Four-wheeler driver facing charges after crashing through ice on February, Sunday 4th 2018
A four-wheeler operator was seriously injured when his vehicle went through the ice on a pond Sunday.
At 3:27 p.m., a New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officer responded to Country Pond in Newton for a report of an off-highway recreation vehicle accident.

Kevin Davenport, 30, of Danville, was operating an all-terrain vehicle on the pond when he drove into open water near a sand bar. The ATV hit the open water and flipped, ejecting Davenport and his passenger. They were thrown into the shallow water and broken ice.

Davenport fled the scene, according to Fish and Game, but was later found at a nearby house with life-threatening injuries. He was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident and was transported to Lawrence General Hospital in Massachusetts.
Based on the preliminary investigation, speed and icy conditions are the main contributing factors. Davenport will be charged with operating an OHRV with a suspended license along with other OHRV violations.
The accident remains under investigation.
