Richmond, VT : One person dead in single car crash on I-89 in Chittenden County on Monday afternoon, Aug 3, 2015

One person has died in single car crash in Chittenden County Monday afternoon.

That's according to Vermont State Police. The crash is near Exit 11 in Richmond and Bolton along Interstate 89.

The car ended up near the railroad tracks and all rail travel has stopped. There are considerable back-ups in the southbound lane of I-89.

"At this point the initial investigation is indicating that this could be a medical issue that the operator suffered. There was no other passengers in the vehicle," said Lt. James Whitcomb, Vermont State Police.

Both lanes of interstate 89 southbound are open. But traffic was still slow going by 6 p.m. Police are not releasing other information until the driver's family is notified.
