Kansas City, KS : Missouri Highway Patrol trooper injured following crash involving stolen vehicle on Friday afternoon, November 11, 2016
A Missouri State Highway Patrol trooper sustained injuries that were not life-threatening Friday afternoon after he was struck by a stolen car from Excelsior Springs that was being pursued by Clay County deputies.
Clay County authorities notified the Highway Patrol just after 1 p.m. that they were following the stolen car on U.S. 69 from Excelsior Springs. Deputies contacted the Highway Patrol for assistance.
Troopers were getting into position to assist with the pursuit on Missouri 152 just west of Interstate 35 when the stolen vehicle took the exit and crashed into the trooper.
The trooper was taken to hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. He was out of his vehicle walking around after the crash and before paramedics arrived, the Highway Patrol reported.
Authorities arrested a man with several felony warrants.
