Martinez, CA : Two teenage girls killed and another severely injured in a crash near Highway 4 early Sunday morning, Nov 1, 2015
California authorities say two teenage girls were killed and another seriously injured in a crash near Highway 4.
The Oakland Tribune reports that California Highway Patrol Officer John Fransen says the 16-year-old driver indicated that she may have fallen asleep just before 3 a.m. Sunday.
Fransen says the two passengers were killed when she crashed into a tree. No other vehicles were involved.
He says the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Highway Patrol did not immediately identify the passengers, who were 15- and 16-year-old Martinez residents.
Police say they don't think drugs or alcohol were factors in the crash.
