Titusville, FL : Pedestrian killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 1 in Brevard County on Sunday night, December 25, 2016

A pedestrian who was walking on U.S. Highway 1 in Brevard County was hit by a car and killed Christmas night, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Troopers said Laura Daehlin, 42, of Titusville was pronounced dead at the scene.

Florida Highway Patrol spokeswoman Sgt. Kim Montes said the crash happened about 10:50 p.m. on U.S. 1 near Harbor Oak Lane, south of Titusville along the Indian River.

The driver of the car, Daniel Hill, 51, of Titusville, was unable to avoid Daehlin, who was walking in the northbound lane of the highway, troopers said.
