BUTTE COUNTY, CA : 3 killed in crash involving multiple big rigs, shuts down Hwy 99 in Butte County on Saturday, 14th November, 2020

At least three people were killed when ten vehicles collided on Highway 99 that was shrouded in thick fog early Saturday, authorities said.

The crash involved at least five big rigs and multiple other vehicles, shutting down the stretch of highway in Butte County early Saturday morning.

The crash also sent two people to the hospital with minor to major injuries, the California Highway Patrol said in a statement.

The cause of the crash was under investigation, although low visibility due to heavy fog in the area was a contributing factor, the statement said.
