Centreville, IL: 30-year-old Killed in Vehcle and southwestern Illinois city's police car Crash on Wednesday Night,22nd October 2014
Illinois State Police are investigating the death of a motorist whose vehicle was hit by a southwestern Illinois city's police car responding to a report of gunfire.
Authorities say 30-year-old Richard Hester of Caseyville died of injuries sustained in the Wednesday night crash in Centreville.
State police say a Centreville police officer was driving his squad car with its lights and sirens on when the vehicle in front of him slowed. When the officer tried to pass in the oncoming lane, the passenger car made a turn in to the officer's path and was hit.
Hester later was declared dead at a hospital.
The officer was treated for minor injuries.
